What can QRCam read?
QRCam reads QR codes from camera frames or static images and displays the text or link they contain. It is a QR scanner, not a general barcode scanner, and does not verify whether QR contents are authentic.
How do I scan with the camera?
Select camera scanning on the homepage, start the camera, and approve the browser permission request. Place the whole QR code in view, hold it steady, and wait for recognition. Camera access requires a secure context such as HTTPS or localhost.
What if the camera does not start?
Check that the page uses HTTPS, camera access is allowed in both browser and system settings, and another app is not using the camera. Some embedded browsers restrict or lack camera APIs. Try a browser with the required support, or scan an image instead.
Which image formats and sizes are supported?
Static PNG, JPG, and WebP images are supported, with a 20MB limit per file. Choose a clear image containing a QR code to read and scan it in your browser. PDFs, videos, and other image formats are not currently supported.
How do I scan a QR code on my phone screen?
Save the QR code as an image or take a screenshot, then switch to image scanning and choose that file from your photo library. Keep the whole QR code and the space around it in the screenshot.
Why might a QR code fail to scan?
A code may be too small, distorted, cropped, affected by glare, or missing space around its edges. Try adjusting distance and lighting, facing the camera squarely, or choosing a clearer and complete original image. The tool cannot guarantee recognition of every damaged or specially styled QR code.
Are images, camera frames, or results uploaded?
These scan contents are recognized in your current browser and are not uploaded to a server or third-party recognition service. The website still loads pages, fonts, scripts, and Google Analytics outside development environments, so it does make network requests. See the Privacy policy for details.
Does a recognized link open automatically?
No. Only HTTP or HTTPS addresses offer a manual open-link action. Other contents are displayed as text. Check the full address before opening it; successful recognition does not mean a link is safe or trustworthy.
How do I copy a result?
After a successful scan, use the copy action in the results area. If your browser restricts clipboard access, select the result text and copy it manually. Save important results before refreshing or closing the page.
Is there a scan history or sharing link?
No. Recognized results stay only in the current page memory. There is no scan history, login, permanent saving, or sharing link for QR contents. Scan again after refreshing or closing the page.
How do I turn off the camera?
Use the stop-scanning action to release the camera. Switching to image scanning or leaving the page also releases it. You can additionally revoke camera permission in your browser site settings.
Can I use it on a phone, tablet, or computer?
The page adapts to phones, tablets, and computers. Image scanning requires browser image and canvas support. Camera scanning also needs a working camera and media access APIs. If camera access is unavailable on your device or browser, try scanning a local image.
